GENERAL QUESTIONS

WILL GETTING IN BETTER SHAPE REALLY IMPROVE THE WAY I PLAY GOLF?
The answer to this is a resounding YES. Improving your physical fitness, shape and improving your diet can help improve your golf in more ways than you may realise.  No matter what new shiny products the industry is trying to sell you, the most important piece of equipment you have on the course is your body.
WILL THIS PROGRAM MAKE ME HIT THE BALL FURTHER?

Again YES, improved swing mechanics/efficiency and the player’s physical condition are the primary reasons that elite golfers are now hitting the ball further and better than ever before. Think about it – stats show us that despite huge improvements in equipment technology there has been no change in the average amateur handicap for over 30 years.  This is because the average amateur hasn’t looked at improving their body with a golf specific program.

 
IS THIS A SWING INSTRUCTION PROGRAM?

This program focuses solely on improving the body – both in a functional sense in relation to the golf swing, and in a visual sense in terms of aesthetics. This isn’t a swing instructor program, but it will help you improve the key physical requirements needed to improve your swing when combined with the technical instructions from your swing coach.

CAN I DO THE TRAINING AT HOME OR DO I NEED A GYM?

The training program for the 12 week plan has been pre-designed based on the majority of body limitations I see in amateur golfers by using a 15 point bio mechanical screening protocol.

The program consists of 3 phases each one lasting 4 weeks.  Each phase consists of 4 weight training sessions and 1 cardio session, which have been developed to get the absolute best out of you in a gym environment.

I’m afraid this means it can’t be done at home unless you have an extensive home gym set up. However, I am able to design bespoke programs to suit the equipment you have at home for an additional charge. Please get in touch for more information.

HOW MANY GYM SESSIONS PER WEEK DO I NEED TO COMMIT TO?

Each week consists of 4 weight training sessions and 1 cardio session, meaning ideally you need to be in the gym 5 times a week with 2 complete rest days. However, if you are struggling to make this commitment for genuine reasons then 3-4 sessions a week will be perfectly acceptable. Granted your results may not be as good with this reduction but you will still be training with enough frequency to make substantial changes that will improve both your physique and game.  You will still be glad you signed up!

 
HOW RESTRICTIVE WILL THE DIET BE?

I strongly believe that in order to apply an effective diet that is sustainable  it needs to be flexible.  You will be provided with all the information you need to be able to build you own diet plan based on the calories and macros I set. This gives you the freedom to choose foods you prefer based on either taste or personal preference.  If you can be consistent 85% of the time as a minimum, you will achieve a great result.

I'M VEGAN / VEGETARIAN / HAVE DIETARY RESTRICTIONS - CAN I STILL FOLLOW THE PROGRAM?

For sure you can, you will just need to let me know when you send in your initial start up forms so I can adjust your macros accordingly to accommodate this.

I LIKE THE ODD DRINK HERE AND THERE - CAN I DRINK ALCOHOL ON THE PROGRAM?

In the ideal world this would be a no. But both you and I live in the real world and if you do have to have a couple of drinks here and there throughout this plan and in moderation, on the grand scheme of things it won’t affect your overall progress. You can’t however drink every day or every weekend and expect great results, let’s get real here.

WHAT IF I HAVE A SPECIAL OCCASION OR EVENT WHILE ON THE PROGRAM?

Almost every client I have worked with in the past has had something they needed to attend when working with me. Again, this is life and it’s impossible to avoid such events and nor would I wish you to isolate yourself from them. I can always accommodate these into your plan and make adjustments where needed to keep you on track.

WHAT IF I HAVE TO EAT OUT?

For the occasions you have to eat out for whatever reason it may be, all I ask is that you use your common sense to assess portion sizes and estimate the calories you will be consuming. Generally speaking meals in restaurants have a calorific intake 30% higher than you assume. If you have to eat out you can reduce your meal sizes earlier in the day to accommodate for this.  The key however is to not stress about it, as elevating your cortisol levels isn’t going to help. Think and be sensible.

WHAT IF I OVEREAT ONE DAY?

If this happens, and trust me it will, then hey, what’s done is done. You can simply off set your remaining weeks intake to compensate for how much over you went or better still just get back on track and don’t worry about it. It’s a simple case of exercising your will power to refrain from doing it on a regular basis.

DO I NEED TO TAKE SUPPLEMENTS?

There are several supplements I strongly recommend that you use while on this plan, all of which will be stated in the information pack provided after sign up. However, if you don’t wish to use supplements that’s perfectly ok. They will certainly assist you with regards to your goals but they are not the driving factor to your success. This comes with consistent quality nutrition and hard work in the gym.

WHAT IF I FALL ILL OR GET INJURED DURING THE PROGRAM?

Should you fall ill, suffer an accidental injury or find yourself physically unable to follow the program due to circumstances out of your control, you need to let me know ASAP so I can personally asses what’s best for you. In extreme circumstances we can pause you on the program if I feel this is needed, and then restart you again when you have the all clear to resume.
